Sarah Ball, client strategy director at Balls2 Marketing and social media expert for the glazing industry, talks about the impact of sharing your achievements on social.
Success breeds success
We’ve recently celebrated a hat-trick of awards at the CIPR (Chartered Institute of Public Relations) Midlands PRide Awards, and the first thing we did was post it on social.
It was an impressive haul. We took home gold for Outstanding Small Public Relations Consultancy and silver for Outstanding Public Relations Consultancy, and Lauren Doyle, our Senior Account Manager, also won silver for Outstanding Young Communicator.
But we didn’t wait for the win. Once we were shortlisted, we posted out regularly. We know that less than a quarter of companies win, so posting on the run up to the awards is vital for coverage.
During the ceremony, we posted live updates – from the team waiting for the awards to be announced to our happy, smiling, winning faces once we were crowned gold and silver.
And we were met with so many fantastic comments from industry friends, local businesses and the team’s families and friends.
So, with awards season coming up, if you’re a finalist, make sure you shout about it across your social channels. If you’re lucky enough to win, post straight away. The results speak for themselves. The award win post from my own LinkedIn received 5,275 views, 91 reactions and 46 comments.
Awards news always creates a real buzz on social – it’s a great way to shout about your team’s achievements. It’s the personal touches like this that people really love, as it’s your team who your customers – and followers – deal with day-to-day.
